Death Alive
Re-Ignition Records
A

Once released for free along with the purchase of Law of Inertia magazine, Death Alive is Death By Stereo's one and only legitimate live recording for fans to purchase worldwide.
Death By StereoRecorded in their home town of Orange County at the infamous Chain Reaction during the "Into the Valley of Death" tour, the liner notes state that at the time the band was on the verge of breaking up and that, "this show was the one that kept us together."

With seventeen tracks to keep the listener head banging for close to an hour, Death Alive is possibly even better than seeing Death By Stereo live. Sound engineers have botched DBS every time I've seen them. In addition, live albums, especially live punk albums are consistently inconsistent (part of their charm in some cases) but this album was flawlessly recorded by DBS's own Paul Miner, and is absolutely unstoppable. Beyond the brilliant recording, the great choice of songs from each album and the at times humorous stage banter (complete with the crowd chanting "Slayer!" and later "Lets Butt-Fuck!") what is best captured on this release is the talent of the band.
Most live recordings seem to showcase not only the great parts of a band but also their flaws, however on this album DBS leave little to be exposed in the flaws and errors department. Even if you've never heard DBS before this could still be a great introduction to a great band, so whether you're a newbie or a veteran fan, do yourself a favor and pick this up.
