Holy Molar Cavity Search Three One G B
If you haven’t heard already Holy Molar is the conscious vivisection of members of The Locust, Das Oath, and Antioch Arrow for your masticating pleasure. Southern Cali experimental hardcore scene too confining for you? You say what’s the benefit of another mish mash of band line-up-incest between friends? Well for one you get to see personas and musical genetics thrown wildly out of character; as is the case when the parasitic influence of The Locust encounters their willing hosts Mark McCoy and Ron Avila. McCoy ‘s delivery even takes quite a diversion from Das Oath as he elevates shattering falsetto blasts over the franticly animated dumps and gleeps of Bobby Bray’s keys. The album begins as a lighting quick stifling of hardcore and thrash with an electric backing taking the form of everything from animal calls to hack and slash synth soundscapes. It would be wrong not to say that the Locust’s influence is evident throughout, but if that the only reason you think you should care about this band, you’re into it for the wrong reasons.
| | The true pleasure of this is that it leaves you still wanting more of each player under the new examination light you found them. As is the same case with the Locust band stranglehold that also includes Headwound City, and Some Girls. But take comfort in knowing into the future when historians study this four song masterpiece, they just may assert the scarcity of Ritalin during the era.
